LEKOLI, a board game about access to education in Africa
"LEKOLI" comes from the Bambara language, spoken in many West African countries. "LEKOLI" means "school." Throughout the educational leaflet, you'll discover why we chose an African name for the game.
Lekoli is designed both as a family game and as a basic tool for activities or deeper reflection on issues related to access to education. The game covers many concepts, and the game is even more enriching when preceded or followed by a discussion with the children.
Goals :
The LEKOLI game is primarily aimed at children between 9 and 12 years old.
Its intention is:
- to make them think about the importance of schooling, for themselves and for all the children of the world,
- to make them aware that the realization of their dreams depends largely on the knowledge they acquire at school,
- to show them the obstacles that prevent many children from accessing education,
- to also show them the helping hands that facilitate access to school,
- to make them think about the fact that we can only claim to be winners if everyone has access to education.
